Skype Connect 1.0 targets businesses, and allows IP-enabled PBX or unified communications systems to connect to Skype. This will, according to the company, benefit all parties involved and should be possible without major technical effort.

Calls from the company are handled directly via VoIP, and companies may want to reduce their spending on communications. You can also rent phone numbers in cities around the world to be routed via Skype in the enterprise – customers can even call from abroad at local rates.

The service also provides the ability to integrate with the contact information on the website of a company as a Skype button. This allows the customer with their Skype account to call the relevant company for free while browsing their website.

Of the pricing and costs, the Skype Connect website states:

All incoming Skype calls to your SIP-enabled PBX are free of charge to people using Skype. Cost effective communications start from just $6.95 per channel per month.

There is also no set up fees for calls, free received calls from registered Skype users, and the ability to answers calls via Online Number at no cost.
